Why large enterprises need high-end workstations

What can workstations do for bigger businesses? In this blog we take a look at some of the benefits.

High-end workstations from Proline by Exacta

As our workloads become ever more digitalised, we all find ourselves craving faster, more powerful computers to make our lives easier. Some professions, on the other hand, have always needed powerful computers. CAD/CAM, media, data science, rendering — these are just some of the sectors that rely massively on powerful computers in order to work effectively. And when you become a large enterprise business, the number of computers you need inevitably increases.

What makes a large business need workstations over regular PCs?

What tends to happen in large enterprise businesses is that they purchase computer hardware ad-hoc, filling gaps as and when needed.

But this approach has a problem — it fails to take stock of the holistic needs of the business as a whole, and it means the business could be losing out on valuable efficiency.

We’ve worked with large enterprise businesses to overhaul their computer hardware, replacing it throughout with a suite of high-end workstations. From that experience, we’ve learned why these businesses make the decision to invest in this technology, and we’d thought it’d be a good idea to share that with you.

It can be broken down into four areas — Power, Reliability, Aesthetics and Remote Working.

So let’s take a look at those areas in a little more detail.

Power

We have power first because often this is one of the defining reasons for upgrading to a suite of workstations. Our workstations are some of the most powerful you’ll find on the market and have been designed specifically to meet the needs of different sectors (so you get the power where you need it). With this power comes increased efficiency and productivity. You can crunch more data, render video faster, and run powerful programs smoothly.

Reliability

When it comes to efficiency, reliability is as important as power. You can have the most powerful computer in the world, but if it crashes every time you try something taxing, it’s worthless. That’s why we put so much emphasis on ensuring that our workstations are built and tested to be as reliable as possible. That way you can reduce the amount of time and money your business spends on fixing broken or crashed computers.

Aesthetics

An often overlooked aspect of having a mixed bag of computers in your workplace is the visual impact it has on your brand, especially relevant when we get people and clients coming back into offices. We get lots of feedback from our customers about how our workstations have transformed the overall look of their office. And looks aren’t the only part. We also take great care to ensure our workstations are as quiet as possible too. We are proud to be using the Be Quiet chassis — they are great high-quality units that are literally engineered to be quiet.

Remote Working

As more and more of us get used to working remotely, many of our clients have found that a  workstation is ideal for the home worker. In one go you get the whole setup that your people need, meaning you don’t have to shop around from keyboards, monitors etc (our recommended set up is top of the range, including ASUS Pro Art Monitor, Logitech MX MASTER 3 mouse & the Logitech CRAFT keyboard). Also you know that your team is equipped with the tech they need to get the job done at home, rather than having them spending time trying to wrangle a less powerful computer to do their job.

What next?

Hopefully that paints a good picture of why many large enterprise businesses decide that they need to upgrade to high-end workstations.
